History of the Cheetah Girls: The Cheetah Girls is a world-wide Disney band is a multi-media success. What many may not know is the humble beginnings. The Cheetah Girls 16-book novel series written by Deborah Gregory first became a smash in 1999. The book series revolves around a female vocal group seeking fame, success and fortune. The books became a success and Gregory wrote twelve books revolving these savvy gals.

In 2003 the Walt Disney Company released their first television / tv musical movie titled The Cheetah Girls based on Gregory’s book series. The movie, also written by Gregory, is set around a four-member teen girl group named the Cheetah Girls who attend Manhattan High School for the Performing Arts. The Cheetah Girls am to be the first freshmen to win the talent show in the school's history. After their audition performance the Girls encounter Jackal Johnson, a music producer set to make the girls megastars. Outstanding performances throughout the movie makes the girls jump to the world spotlight and into the hearts of girls and families across the world.

After this movie was released, a second movie was quickly filmed. After the overnight success of these movies the Cheetah Girls became worldwide superstars. Now there is a full Cheetah Girls line of clothing, toys, games and they have their very own Nintendo game. It’s no secret that the Cheetah Girls are the idol of young girls everywhere. Hannah Montana followed the success of the Cheetah Girls, and learning that Disney can still churn out the stars.
